The "Project Runway" designers claim to be terrified by Heidi Klum, but the stunner was all smiles and laughs in a sequined black, backless halter top and pants belted with leather beside co-judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia and guest judge L'Wren Scott at the show's New York Fashion Week event this morning.

Betsey Johnson, Andie MacDowell, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Malin Akerman joined guests in the front row as eight designers showed off their collections in the spoiler-free finale show.

Some designers channeled New York style – Laura Kathleen opened with a collection full of chic metallic-on-black creations, Viktor Luna's blend of sheer black with leather outshone his Mexico-inspired designs (although they did incorporate real photographs) and the second half of Kimberly Goldson's collection used just enough glitter to get city girls in the party mood – while others, such as Anya Ayoung Chee, stayed true to where they came from.

"I was inspired by the easy-sexy style of the Caribbean," the Trinidad-born designer said, and that was clear in her bright, breezy collection. She, too, played on the recurring sheer theme, with light fabrics flowing as her models walked the runway.

So, who will win? "Now we go to Parsons and decide," Klum said, suspense looming.

Ok, maybe she is a little scary.
