These days, Fashion Week has monopolized the style scene but still, the dress with the biggest buzz of late has been the Tracy Reese number Michelle Obama wore for her speech at the Democratic Convention last week.
Was the dress transmitting a special message? "Yes," said Reese backstage Sunday after her runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. "It says, I'm a strong, beautiful woman, and I'm feminine, but I'm not afraid to show my strength."
Others at the show had a message for the dress. "Oh my gosh, I want to wear it," said celebrity chef and author Katie Lee, who did wear a Reese design to the show. "Michelle Obama is an emblem of style. When I saw it, it gave me chills."
Mann's enjoying new thrill
If you thought season one of "Revenge" was twisted, just wait for season two.
"Believe it or not, the show is going to get even darker," says Gabriel Mann, who plays computer whiz kid (and Bill Gates-like gazillionaire) Nolan Ross on ABC's hot, guilty-pleasure drama. Mann, a former model, has been in town for New York Fashion Week, catching runway shows for Billy Reid and Tommy Hilfiger's menswear line.
"It's been the thrill of all our lives," says Mann, of the unexpected success of the show, which tracks the schemes of ill-fated Hamptons residents. What's more unexpected -- Mann's never actually been to the Hamptons, not for the series (which shoots in California), and not even in his modeling days.
"No, I wasn't hanging at P. Diddy's White Party," he says, laughing. But we wonder, with the show's success, isn't he curious?
