Spirited clothes with a focused sense of style and fun starred on Richard Chai’s runway, where layering was king, but playfulness was not forgotten.
Models, some in turquoise lipstick, wore florals and geometrics, and there was lots (and we mean lots) of layering, such as a luscious orange dress over biker shorts, topped by a khaki anorak.
While it all catered to the urban hipster, there was plenty of pretty and cute. Irises and roses were zealously printed on camp shirts and dresses, one cobalt dress was sauced up with cutout shoulders, and a pair of slim khaki trousers was fronted by half a kilt!
In the house, Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade really enjoyed the show – and got it: “I lreally liked all the layering and the colors,” he said of his first New York fashion show.
