As fashion show locations go, a frosty, dark warehouse on the West Side Highway does not bode well, especially at 10 on a Saturday morning. But Edun, the eco fashion label founded by Ali Hewson with the help of hubby Bono, chose just this spot and high-heeled fashion types were literally tripping up platform stairs in the pitch-black space to find their seats.
Fortunately, the collection, designed by creative director Sharon Wauchob, lightened the mood and warmed the moment. Themed “Storytellers and Liars,” this exploration of storytelling in different cultures presented a terrific series of looks – loads of layering, great coats with quilting details, stocking turtleneck, sweater dressing with fringe and Fair Isle motifs, and ruffley dresses. The combinations were eclectic, some rugged, some feminine, perfect for modern-day heroines who star in their own stories.
The big question? Was Bono in the house? Who knows? Who could see?
