Donating bridesmaid dresses
Attention all bridesmaids: If you've got a bridesmaid dress (or five) taking up room in your closet, now you can do something useful with them. Bridesmaid dressmaker Dessy Group launched Newlymaid.com, a site that allows you to donate gently worn dresses in exchange for a 30 to 50 percent credit on new outfits (office to partywear, $150 to $250) sold on the site. Old dresses goes to those in need worldwide.
Originally designed for college students, B.D. Baggies shirts have a distinctive softness that'll appeal to anyone, whether you're cramming for finals or just hanging out. Each Oxford-cloth shirt is washed after being made and placed in a laundry bag without ironing, to create that worn-in look. The line costs $98 and up (here, her Mercer tunic, $145, and his poplin shirt, $115). Look for the line at Mansouri, Greenvale; Lifestyle, Sag Harbor; and bdbaggies.com.
