Thakoon’s spring collection is like a travelogue. Held at the Plaza Hotel, the show takes you on a journey from West to East. West was handily represented by denim tops, a chambray silk and linen shirtdress and hats that seemed plucked from the wardrobe department of the film “True Grit.”
Eastern influences were evident in the tops and dresses made with Indian paisley, a sumptuous brocade maharaja suit with gold leather sleeves, and sari scarves worn diagonally across the body.
As for the models with their bright pink and blue hair? Well, we're still not quite sure what that signified.
The real hit of the collection, however, may well be that great khaki cotton duster coat, with pearl and crystal embroidery on the shoulders—finally, a coat you can wear to a banquet or party that looks as glamorous as your dress.
