"The Fabulous Beekman Boys," whose second season will premiere at 10 p.m. March 22 on Discovery's Planet Green channel, will converge on Long Island this evening as part of Bloomingdale's Sytle+Soul=Spring event.
Head over to Bloomingdale's at Roosevelt Field mall between 6 and 9 p.m. tonight for swinging jazz, artisan-crafted cocktails, refreshments, lessons on looking sharp and an appearance by the docu-series' hosts, Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer Purcel.
The show follows urban couple Brent Ridge, former vice president of healthy living at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and bestselling author Josh Kilmer-Purcell in their attempt to become “gentleman farmers.” The series follows them as they juggle their relationship and a burgeoning home business and a rapidly expanding working farm.
Ridge, who also is a doctor, is the second former Martha Stewart exec to leave the rat race for a more rural life. He headed for Beekman Farm in upstate Sharon Springs about two years ago; Margaret Roach, former Martha editorial director (and ex-Newsday garden editor), jumped ship in 2007 to live and garden full-time in her then-weekend home in New York's Hudson Valley. Ridge is on TV; Roach has a blog and wrote a book about her experience, "And I Shall Have Some Peace There."
