The Long Island Daylily Society is holding its annual daylily sale and clinic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21 -- rain or shine -- at Farmingdale State College (Route 110 and Melville Road).
Hundreds of daylilies, all grown by members of the society, will be available at bargain prices. Along with the traditional, large-flowered varieties, the sale will include some of the less common miniatures, doubles and spiders.
Be sure to get there early; a couple of years ago I sashayed in at about 1 p.m. and all the cool ones were gone.
Stick around for a clinic and workshop presented by members of the society at 12:30. Members will be on hand to answer your questions, too.
Now for the free part: Print out this page and receive a free daylily plant with any $15 purchase, while supplies last. Just show them your printout and tell them I sent you.
