Here's something to put on your calendar: The Town of North Hempstead is running a Nature Series with field biologist and naturalist Eric Powers, who gives interpretive nature programs in Nassau and Suffolk counties and leads eco-tours to Australia, Costa Rica and elsewhere.
The series begins with a live raptor show on Saturday, July 30, from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Clark Botanic Garden (193 I.U. Willets Rd., Albertson). Then there's a beach nature walk at North Hempstead Beach Park (175 W. Shore Rd., Port Washington) on Aug.10, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and a lecture about "Bees and Other Bugs" at Clark Botanic Garden on Aug. 20, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Finally, there's a twilight hike, "Bats to Owls," on Friday, Aug. 26, from 8 to 9 p.m. at Clark (193 I.U. Willets Rd., Albertson).
The fee for each event is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 18 and under.
