OK, I admit it: I'm a zombie geek. I love zombie movies and folklore, and consider the question, "Vampires, zombies or werewolves?" to be a riveting party-conversation starter, as well as a testament to someone's character. As you know, I'm also somewhat of a plant geek. So it shouldn't be a surprise that I'm super-excited that a sequel to the video game Plants vs Zombies -- "Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time" -- is on the horizon, set to be released by PopCap Games on July 18 as a free-for-IOS game.
You might remember my excitement a couple of years ago when the original game was released, and the sleepless nights that followed as the hours seemingly slipped away with my braaaaiiiinz in constant peril.
You can watch the trailer below and then scroll further for a teaser that's actually more of a commercial and invites us to tune in to the "briefing" at 1:00 p.m. today at ea.com/e3. It's not clear whether the graphics have been drastically improved or if the teaser and trailer don't actually reflect the game. Note the garden gnome. Could this get any better?
Funny you should ask, because it does: In the new game, attacking zombies aren't relegated to your front yard, where they threatened your prized perennials in the original game. Oh no, these bad boys will take you to ancient Egypt, the Wild West and even a pirate ship. Have a look.
