A smarter season, or not?

If you don't . . . well, what will happen to you in September?. Do kids get smarter or dumber over the summer? Kids who care about school will practice educational skills over the summer. Some educational skills they might practice are math flash cards, reading and grammar. They will become smarter over the summer. Kids who don't care about school and don't like school won't practice these skills. They will be behind in September when school starts.. We surveyed 133 fourth- and fifth-grade students. We found out that 36 students said they get smarter over the summer and 97 students said they will have some catching up to do when September rolls around.. So, it depends on what you are willing to do. Practice several skills, or don't practice these educational skills over summer break. In the beginning of the school year, it will show. We say, quit being a couch potato and hit the books!. --Kidsday Reporters Jordan Molgano and Anna Paisley.
