Brides-to-be, prepare for battle.

“Bridal Wars” is descending upon The Sports Arena in St. James on April 10 as an interactive wedding exposition pitting prospective brides against one another for a chance at cash and other prizes that might help lessen the bill for their nuptials.

It will be the multicity spectacle’s first visit to Long Island.

“The goal of Bridal Wars is to make the wedding planning process fun for the brides,” says event co-organizer Heather Romanski. “A typical bridal show can be very overwhelming for a bride with the rows and rows of vendors.”

At Bridal Wars, vendors are in on the fun.

Before they walk down the aisle, dueling brides form a team of three, usually alongside their bridesmaids or relatives, and face off in a series of challenges hosted by attending vendors at the three-hour event.

Things tend to get physical as the brides go all out in the name of love. Bouquet toss competitions, relay races and mini workouts consisting of lunges, situps and squats are common.

“We have had some great challenges at our past events like a lip-sync battle, limo push, balloon pop, wedding dress relay, and a dance-off,” Romanski, 32, says. “Who wouldn’t want to push a limo through the parking lot?”

Bridal shower games are also standard at the expo.

Guests can expect to be quizzed on wedding trivia and asked to tackle a toilet paper gown challenge that tasks them with making bridal wear from Charmin rolls.

“We give out prizes for every challenge winner, best team attire, best team name and also an overall grand prize,” says Romanski, of Astoria.

All of the winning teams are entered for the grand prize package that includes a two-night stay in Las Vegas for two, a bachelorette weekend getaway, Pure Life cookware set and a $500 Two by London Jewelers store gift certificate.

The idea for Bridal Wars came to wedding expert Stacy Jubert in 2011.

“Bridal Wars was born at my local CrossFit,” says Jubert, 38, of Albany, whose company, Bridal News, connects brides with wedding vendors. “I had 12 girls join for four workouts and they had a blast.”

Jubert partnered with Romanski in 2014 and the two have since taken Bridal Wars on tour across the country. Bridal Wars has visited New York, Pennsylvania, Florida and Texas and generally attracts about 65 teams. The Long Island stop will be the sixth show.

Says Romanski, “Bridal Wars is all about having fun with your girlfriends, celebrating being a bride and, obviously, competing for the win.”
