You've come a long way, baby. Now you've even got your own expo.
The first-ever Long Island Women's Expo is hoping to draw as many as 5,000 women together for two days of advice on everything from shaping up to healthy relationships.
"It's important that women celebrate women," says relationship counselor Stephanie Florman, who will be among the presenters on the main stage.
Highlights a shopping area with 100 vendors from businesses catering to women. Reality TV fans can meet Ali Vincent, season 5 winner of "The Biggest Loser," and Cynthia Conde, host of VH1's "Bridal Bootcamp." Natalie Weinstein of Nesconset, who hosts "The Home Show" on WALK/97.5 FM radio, will conduct a seminar on how to unclutter your life. Also on tap: health and beauty seminars, weight-management lectures and three fashions shows, including one with J.C. Penney clothing and another with "hot" male models.
IF YOU NEED A PERFECT MATCH
"I am not a matchmaker, but I prepare people for a perfect match," says Florman, a relationship coach with Master Matchmakers, the company behind VH1's "Tough Love" series. She'll ask women in the audience to perform mental and written exercises to help them "find out who they are looking for" in a relationship. Then, she'll suggest actions they can take to find the perfect match. Florman, who's known for her candid self-improvement approach, will even take you aside and critique your clothing and hair choices to let you know if you give out "the wrong vibes."
IF YOU'RE ALREADY HEADING FOR THE ALTAR
Conde, founder of the Bridal Bootcamp fitness program, will offer advice on nutrition and training for brides-to-be. She'll get an assist from Army Staff Sgt. James Cavan of Hicksville, who will lead a group of five women through a drill. (You can join in from your seat.) Conde, who lives in Whitestone, also plans to talk about her new gym, The Fitness Loft in Manhasset.
IF YOU THINK HOUSEWORK IS A DRAG
"Last year, I was the top-selling consultant in North America," Suchan says. Aunt Barbara will be demonstrating how to use the legendary storage items -- plus cookware and reheating tools.
Suchan says: "I'm going to be showing people how to save time and money."
IF YOU NEED A JOLT OF TESTOSTERONE
This won't be a strictly women-only expo. Among the other presenters will be Josh Temple, host of DIY Network's "House Crashers" and "Disaster House" series. For something majorly macho, check out the Hot! Fireman Fashion Show at 5 p.m. Saturday.
