1. Take a seal cruise

They won't be thwarted by superstorm Sandy -- the Riverhead Foundation says it is still poised to begin its annual winter harbor seal-watching cruises of Hempstead Bay.

Passengers board a vessel from the Capt. Lou Fleet in Freeport for an excursion led by a naturalist guide who will explain how the animals live and behave.

The boat has an interior cabin with seating as well as plenty of room to sit outside and soak in the view. It's a good idea to bring your own binoculars and dress for windy conditions.

 

 

2. Flying Karamazov Brothers

 

They juggle comedy with theatrics, tossing one-liners with plates and dishes. In fact, anything they can get their hands on. The staged show, suitable for all ages, comes to the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.

3. East Hampton House and Garden Tour

 

Get a peek inside five stately private homes in East Hampton. The self-guided tour will take visitors inside dwellings with a variety of architectural and decor styles, from historic, turn-of-the-century homes to a newly constructed contemporary. Along the way, you'll see a museum-quality art collection and late-season landscaping.

4. Intercept Eli Manning

 

The Giants quarterback, a two-time Super Bowl champ, is scheduled to make an appearance Monday to sign autographs at Steiner Sports Store at the Roosevelt Field mall. Access is limited -- and expensive. You'll need to make a reservation and prepay for your autographs in advance of the signing.

5. Rico Rodriguez

 

He plays Manny Delgado on ABC's Emmy-winning "Modern Family." Now he's written a memoir ($16). Meet the young actor and author Tuesday at Barnes & Noble in Lake Grove, where he'll sign his book. Numbered tickets for the event will be given out beginning at 9 a.m.

6. Teen Music Fest

 

Will these singers be the next Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus? Nobody knows, but you can be sure local tweens are all-too-aware that singing sensations such as Zendaya (star of Disney's "Shake It Up") and IM5 are playing a concert next Sunday at the Nassau Coliseum. The performance is hosted by "Big Time Rush" stars Kendall Schmidt and Logan Henderson.

7. Library 'Exploratorium'

 

The Port Washington Public Library is marking its 120th anniversary today with a futuristic celebration of technology and science. Visitors of all ages will find free activities such as learning how to build your own Web page or watching a molecular gastronomy demonstration by Main Street Bakery's chef Michael Mignano.

8. Taking Back Sunday

 

The boys are back in town. Taking Back Sunday plays a homecoming concert on Thanksgiving eve at the Paramount in Huntington. Would you believe the band is marking the 10th anniversary of its first album? In honor of the occasion, the band will play that album, "Tell All Your Friends."

9. Funk Filharmonik

 

It's a Thanksgiving tradition of sorts: Members of the Funk Filharmonik band reunite but once a year for a concert over the holiday weekend. This year, the horn-heavy troupe will play Friday at Deco 1600 restaurant in Plainview.

10. Montauk Lighthouse holiday lighting

 

The historic lighthouse, commissioned by President George Washington in 1792, gets illuminated for the holidays with more than 3,000 white lights. Other activities include live music and Santa making an appearance at the top of the tower.
