HISTORIC BONES A four-bedroom carriage house on the former Van Iderstine estate in Centerport is on the market for $1.65 million.
The 1.25-acre property overlooks Northport Harbor. The home is next to the original Charles Van Iderstine mansion, which was built in 1897 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. "The elegant turn-of-the-century architecture, the serene setting and history are what draw people to this home," says Leslie French of East Egg Realty, who is co-listing the property with Jon Cifuentes.
The property has hills, gardens, stone paths and terraces. A porch off the kitchen leads to a brick patio. The master suite has a 250-square-foot terrace. The home has three bathrooms and two fireplaces. There's a mudroom with a bathroom.
French says the carriage house has been updated over the years, but never expanded beyond its original footprint. -- KRISTIN TAVEIRA
