Features: Tanglewood Preserve, an 17-acre preserve with two ponds and 3 buildings that serve as home to the Center for Science Teaching and Learning which offers science programs for children of all ages.

Summer camp info: Ages: 4 to 12. Fees: check website. Specialties: Full-day program at Tanglewood Preserve from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday; hands-on investigations and fun experiments all summer long; also includes activities in art, music, team activities and challenges, special events, and field trips. Camp Teen Venture, Ages: 13-15. Specialties: Traveling camp where each day teenagers discover Long Island's sometimes hidden secrets by going on great field trips. The themes are Engineering Wonders, Marine Discoveries, Animal Adventures, Transportation Marvels and Tech Trek. Open house: 10 a.m. to noon March 15.


Preserve open 9 a.m. to dusk, daily; Center for Science Teaching and Learning open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wed.-Sun.
