A weekend of pizza and red wine

FRIDAY: WINE TIME Stew Leonard's will be pouring Sassicaia, one of Italy's great reds, at a tasting from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Farmingdale shop (Airport Plaza Boulevard). The Pies on Wheels Pizza truck pulls into Stew Leonard's Wines in Carle Place on Saturday for a wine-and-food tasting. On Sunday, the pizzas and wine will be showcased at Stew Leonard's Wines of Farmingdale.

David Britton, from The Food Network's "Dinner Impossible" show will lead the crew of the 26-foot long truck, which includes a 6,500-pound wood-fired oven. You can sample the pizzas at the truck or in the wine shop. Castello Monaci wines will be poured to go with the pies. Bottles of the winery's Piluna Primitivo, Liante Salice Salentino, old-vines Primitivo and Kreos Rosato will go with the pizzas. Castello Monaci wines, which range from about $12 to $37, also will be for sale.

The festivities go from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday; and 2  to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
