Will Breakstone, Long Island’s most decorated pitmaster, is hosting the Hope on the Hill barbecue competition the weekend of Oct. 11-12 at Pennysaver Amphitheater in Farmingville. Proceeds will benefit the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition.

Breakstone organized six springtime WilliePallooza barbecue contests from 2008 to 2013. He took 2014 off while he worked on opening South Shore BBQ in Patchogue. (He and the owners parted ways in August.)

On Saturday, Oct. 11, there will be a people’s choice chili contest ($25 to enter) and a judged grilling contest ($50). Teams will set up Saturday evening for the main event, the Sunday barbecue competition ($100) in the categories of chicken, pork ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket.

Enter any contest or all three. This is a great starter event for first-time competitors. For more information, click here, or email wbreakstone1@optonline.net. The deadline for registration is Oct. 8.
