Bistro 46, Plainview: Holiday Inn makeover

The recently remodeled Holiday Inn in Plainview just launched its new restaurant, Bistro 46.

Another number-named Long Island restaurant joins the ever-more-numerous list; Bistro 46 is now open at the recently remodeled Holiday Inn in Plainview.

The hotel's former restaurant, Monroe’s Supper Club, had been begging for a makeover back in 2007, when a Newsday ratings roundup of Long Island hotel restaurants said this: “It's not just the dining room but the entire hotel that can use an update. The room, with a stage on one side, is done in a retro teal and mauve motif, the vinyl place mats matching the color scheme.”

Now, everything is chic and contemporary, done in an autumnal color palette. There's also a bar with TV screens for watching the big game, whatever it might be.

Stopping in on a recent midafternoon, I was able to glance at the breakfast menu, which looked pretty extensive, with eggs, biscuits, pancakes and oatmeal among options.

On the lunch menu: a Reuben sandwich ($10.95), a Tex-Mex chicken quesadilla ($9.95) and a veal and shiitake meat loaf ($12.50). Dinnertime, there’s a Maryland jumbo crabcake ($10.95), an entree-sized seared jerk tuna salad ($16) and seared cumin crusted colossal sea scallops ($24).

Bistro 46 is at 215 Sunnyside Blvd., Plainview (L.I.E. Exit 46), 516-349-7400.
