Nothing subtle about Bottomz Up, a sports bar and restaurant slated to open tonight at around 8 p.m. in Carle Place: As at CANZ, a similar operation in nearby Westbury, the serving crew consists of curvaceous and scantily attired young women.
Here's tonight's game plan: After an early evening invitation-only VIP party (with such sports celebs as Dwight Gooden, John Starks and Bobby Nystrom), the restaurant will throw open its doors to the public.
But the draw here is not just multiple TV screens and sexy servers; it's serious food. In charge of that is chef Adam Goldgell, who cooked at the former Panama Hatties in Huntington, the Boat House Cafe in Glen Cove and Sugo in Long Beach. Here, Goldgell has designed a gastro pub menu with such items as steak and ale soup ($7), grilled Caesar salad ($11), a St. Louis ribs appetizer ($10) and grilled wild Alaskan salmon ($18). Burgers range from $12 to $14 and come with freshly-cut fries.
There’s more. Shiro of Japan, which shares the restaurant's parking lot, has set up a sushi bar with a menu of signature rolls — make that “rollz.“
Bottomz Up is at 377 Old Country Rd., Carle Place, 516-478-4777.
