Butler’s Flat, a waterfront clam shack, is poised to open tomorrow in the Brewer’s Capri West Marina in Port Washington. You may remember that site as the home of the former Bad Bob’s BBQ.
The new eatery's owner, Christopher Blumio, used to run the food services at Shea Stadium and is currently a partner at Marc Forgione in Manhattan. His menu is short and focused. Choices include an appetizer of fried Ipswich clams ($10), native oysters ($10, half dozen, $18, dozen), a “today’s catch” sandwich ($10) featuring whatever the fishermen at the marina just reeled in, and a lobster roll ($18). For carnivores, there's a Hartmann’s hot dog ($6), a burger ($13) or a free range chicken sandwich ($10). Sides of local greens, freshly cut fries, boiled potatoes, corn on the cob or summer slaw ($4 each) round out the menu.
The place offers counter service only. Outdoor seating affords a nautical view.
Butler’s Flat is at 86 Orchard Beach Blvd., Port Washington, 516-883-8330.
