Cafe Picasso in Long Beach

Cafe Picasso in Long Beach Credit: Handout

Fans of the former Cafe Picasso in Williston Park may be interested to learn that its chef-owner, Giuseppe Capobianco, has opened a new version of the place in the Long Beach space last occupied by Mulberry Street, a little pizzeria. Capobianco has kept the brick oven and offers a few pizzas.

Some items from the mostly Italian menu: Prince Edward Island mussels steamed in garlic and chardonnay or tomato sauce ($9.95), gnocchi Bolognese ($15.95), and chicken Parmigiana (($14.95).

A $24.95 four-course prix-fixe runs Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. It starts with grilled polenta, followed by an appetizer, such as eggplant rollatini, an entree, like ginger-crusted salmon, and a house-made dessert with coffee. Cash only for this one.

The restaurant is closed Tuesdays.

Cafe Picasso is at 157 E. Park Ave., Long Beach; 516-897-1886.
