Carle Place: Fundraiser to aid quake victims

Shiro of Japan will host a fundraising event to to benefit victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. "Relief - Japan" is scheduled for April 11.

Tickets are $150 per person. There also are sponsorship packages of 15 tickets for $2,000. The restaurant will offer traditional Japanese cuisine, including sushi and hibachi specialties. Passed appetizers and sake samplings also will be available.

The money from the disaster-relief fundraiser will be donated to Japanese American Lions Club Charities. "We are asking the community to be generous to the people of the country where I was born and raised," Shiro co-owner Hiro Ishikawa said in a statement.

Shiro of Japan has a branch in Glendale, too, at The Shops at Atlas Park. Ten percent of sales at the Queens restaurant on April 11 also will be donated to "Relief - Japan."
