Chick-fil-A offers healthier Egg White Grill for breakfast

Diners no longer need to decide between the chicken or the egg now that Chick-fil-A offers a new breakfast sandwich with both. The Egg White Grill is aimed at health-conscious customers and has replaced the Spicy Chicken Biscuit.

The first menu change since 2010 is justified by stats that more people are dining out more often. For 300 calories, diners can have grilled chicken breast, egg whites and American cheese served on a toasted multigrain English muffin for $3.35, instead of a boneless, spicy breaded chicken breast on a bun with dill pickles for 490 calories.

The Twitterverse has not entirely embraced the switch, with calls for boycotts of Chick-fil-A and photos of the sandwich doctored with graphics of a halo and angel wings.

The competition has been ahead of Chick-fil-A in offering breakfast sandwiches with egg whites — such as the turkey bacon and egg white sandwich at Starbucks and the Egg White Delight muffin at McDonald’s — but alas, no chicken. So while healthy isn’t always a selling point at a fast-food spot, Chick-fil-A is banking on the appeal of a sandwich that offers the bird, two ways.
