Choopan Grill

This friendly Afghan restaurant offers a warm welcome as well as a varied and interesting menu. What it does not offer, though, is any kind of alcohol, which, for religious reasons, should not be brought into the place.

Try the aush, a hearty soup rife with noodles and vegetables and topped with meat sauce and yogurt. If you're looking to sample the range of kebabs served, there are several combination specials. Rice dishes, or palaws, are interesting and varied. Vegetarians will find a good selection of options, among them bamia (okra), kadu ( pumpkin) and aush-e-nanah dagh, a dish of boiled homemade noodles topped with butter, garlic, mint and yogurt sauce.

Firnee, an Afthan milk custard made with rosewater and cardamom, is a light and appropriate ending.
