A recent casualty of the economy is Frank N Burger, a whimsical hot dog and burger spot in St. James with a horror movie theme.
One had to open really wide to get a bite of the monster-sized “frank n dog,“ a Colombian-style frankfurter smothered in ketchup, mustard, Russian dressing-style “pink sauce,” sauteed onion, ham, mozzarella cheese, crushed potato chips and pineapple. Even so, it was worth the messy struggle.
There are plenty of places to get burgers and dogs on Long Island, but this one — with its murals depicting Frankenstein, Count Dracula and a host of creepy creatures — was a true original.
