Mitch & Toni’s, the New American collaboration between chef Mitch SuDock and manager Toni Contino, has closed.

The restaurant opened in May 2011 and earned 2½ stars from Newsday's Peter M. Gianotti, who praised the tender baby back ribs, the sweet Asian-accent barbecue chicken wings, bacon-wrapped monkfish and the chef's signature pistachio-crusted halibut with lemon-beurre blanc. SuDock was also featured in 2011 as one of Newsday’s All-Star chefs.

SuDock said that his willingness to accommodate his customers’ special requests had, ultimately, taken him away from “cooking what I wanted to cook.” He and Contino are planning to open a new restaurant in Brooklyn, SuDock said.

The space on Willis Avenue has been taken over by another restaurant group, SuDock said.
