Caldas Cafe Restaurant & Bar, a Portuguese restaurant in New Hyde Park, is no more.
I remember the place as particularly warm and welcoming. Some dishes that left me with fond memories: head-on shrimp in a spicy red sauce, whole grilled sea bass and a Portuguese specialty called "bacalao a bras" — a hash of scrambled eggs, salted cod and potatoes. “I'd gladly eat it for breakfast,” I wrote back in February 2010.
