Clovis Point winery in Jamesport will sponsor a chili cook-off on Presidents Day weekend, with proceeds to benefit the Group for the East End environmental organization.
Ten chefs, including three professionals, will participate in the event, where entries will include chili made with beef, pork and beef, duck and venison, as well as vegetarian chili.
The cost is $20, which includes a taste of the 10 chilies and a glass of the 2005 Clovis Point merlot. The festivities are slated for Saturday, Feb. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Chefs will compete for a case of the '05 merlot. Lia Fallon of Amarelle in Wading River, Ken Myers of Piping Plover Cafe in Southold, and Andrew LaLonde of Custom Catering in Port Jefferson are among them.
The Group for the East End is an educational and advocacy organization aimed at protecting and restoring the environment of the East End. The group is contributing "sustainable chili" to the contest.
