Nobu, which brought miso black cod and yellowtail jalapeño into the repertoire of nouveau Asian restaurants, is slated to open its first Long Island branch on or about Memorial Day weekend.

The new, seasonal eatery takes over the site of what was the Pink Elephant night club, and briefly, Day & Night restaurant in the Capri hotel on Montauk Highway in Southampton. There's been lots of work under way at the site in the last week and it's still a work in progress.

Although more has been scribbled and blogged, overheatedly and insufferably, the (a) rumored (b) gossiped (c) hyped and (d) finally acknowledged opening than about the food, diners should expect a more summery version of Nobu's now-familiar, high-voltage menu.

Just in case your private jet is free, a new Nobu arrived in Cannes in time for this year's film festival.

Nobu in the Hamptons will be at Montauk Highway and North Main Street, also known as 281 County Road 39A. No phone yet. Be patient.
