Rincon Criollo, a Cuban mainstay in Queens since 1976, has opened a satellite in Huntington Station. The new restaurant takes over the Jericho Turnpike space that was occupied (since 1956!) by the Pine Tree Inn.

Thanks to a homey retro decor and lots of old photographs and paintings, the new Rincon Criollo already looks like a Long Island fixture.

The menu is classic too, with prices seemingly from the Batista regime: fritturas de bacalao (codfish fritters, $3), croqueta de jamon (ham croquettes, $3), lechon asado (roast pork, $13.95), ropa vieja ("old clothes" braised beef, $15.95), natilla (custard, $3) and flan de coco (coconut-caramel custard, $2.50).

Rincon Criollo is open every day from noon to 10 p.m. at 16 W. Jericho Tpke., Huntington Station, 631-271-2277,
