Daisho, a casual little Japanese restaurant specializing in yakitori (skewered grilled meat, fish and vegetables) and ramen noodle soups as well as sushi and sashimi, opened last month in the former home of Dragon Gate, a mostly Chinese restaurant. Dragon Gate, in turn, has moved around the corner and now exists as a takeout eatery with most of its old menu intact.

From Daisho’s roster of yakitori items, you can get single or multiple skewers of such items as smelt ($1.95), quail egg ($1.95), bacon with egg ($2.95), pork ($1.75) and shrimp ($1.95); an assortment of 8 skewers goes for $12.95. Ramen noodle soups, most made with a pork base, include grilled eel ($15.95), BBQ pork ($11.95) and spicy miso chicken ($12.95).

Daisho is at 308 Main St., Huntington, 631-385-8102; Dragon Gate is at 6 Green St., Huntington, 631-385-8100.
