In scenic Northport, you’ll want to stroll through town: check out the dock, the gazebo and the shops along Main Street. Beforehand — or afterward — consider one of these five eating places:

MARONI CUISINE, 18 Woodbine Ave., Northport, 631-757-4500

Chef-owner Michael Maroni’s freewheeling tasting menu takes you all over the place — in high style. Maroni, whose meatballs beat Bobby Flay’s in a Food Network throw-down, keeps it coming with such dishes as lobster roll, Kobe beef sliders, linguine with clams, Memphis-style ribs — and/or whatever else pops into his mind. Outdoor courtyard dining in nice weather.

TIM’S SHIPWRECK DINER, 46 Main St., Northport, 631-754-1797

This vintage railroad-car model is a nexus for local movers and shakers, who dig into the appealing omelets, oatmeal, blintzes and pancakes at breakfast. At lunch, there are burgers (bison or beef), fish and chips and BLTs. Outdoor eating in warm weather. No dinner, though.

MAIN STREET CAFE, 47 Main St., Northport, 631-754-5533

Great burgers and big salads headline this cozy — perhaps cramped — bar and cafe decorated with vintage photos from the town’s past.

CILANTRO MEXICAN INSPIRED FOOD, 40 Woodbine Ave., Northport, 631-651-9377

At this counter-service spot (with a Huntington offshoot), roasted spiced chicken thighs compete with sweet chipotle pork take the title of top protein to fill tacos, burritos, tortilla-free burrito bowls and quesadillas. Pickled onions and a variety of sauces amp up everything.

COPENHAGEN BAKERY & CAFE, 75 Woodbine Ave., Northport, 631-754-3256

This recently expanded bakery cafe serves up breakfast, lunch and brunch. Order at the counter and your food will be brought to you — indoors or on the porch facing Northport Harbor. There are egg sandwiches on house-made rolls as well as pancakes, waffles and French toast. At lunch: crabcakes, quiches and sandwiches, plus dessert from the bakery showcase.
