For Valentine's weekend, here are three Italian restaurants offering their take on cucina d'amore.

LA PICCOLA LIGURIA, 47 Shore Rd., Port Washington; 516-767-6490

The specials are what count. From the vegetable antipasti to grilled sardines, smoked trout to lobster fra diavolo, tuna carpaccio to roast suckling pig, La Piccola Liguria is excellent. Linger over dessert.

LOMBARDI'S ON THE BAY, 600 S. Ocean Ave., Patchogue; 631-654-8970

Dancing and dining mark Valentine's Day at the waterfront restaurant. The four-course dinner includes beet, tomato and greens salad, mezze rigatoni in veal ragù, steak and jumbo shrimp, white chocolate cheesecake mousse and pastries, $75 a person, including open bar.

JONATHAN'S RISTORANTE, 15 Wall St., Huntington; 631-549-0055

Expect specials such as oysters Rockefeller, seafood risotto, lobster in spicy tomato sauce, roasted monkfish and steak at this inviting spot in Huntington. Dessert: chocolate-covered strawberries.
