The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene.

Cannot even believe I'm saying this, but Sushi Palace in Great Neck actually has addictive freshly-made-to-order sushi, sashimi and hot food — and as much as you can eat of it. Weekdays, your order will cost you $18.95,  then up to $20.95 on weekends.

Our first visit, two of us checked off eight rolls on the menu the server handed us, including salmon-avocado roll, spicy yellowtail roll and eel-avocado roll. When that plate was clean, we asked for a few pieces of sushi and a couple of sweet-potato rolls. Yeah, that was enough.

Next time around, we pigged out again, with six rolls, some grilled teriyaki, hot and crispy shrimp tempura and ice cream for dessert.

My two favorite things about the place: the temperature of the rice in the nigiri sushi and maki rolls was warm, and the servers didn't blink when we kept asking for more, please. On the downside, the restaurant does not have a liquor license, so no hot sake here.

Sushi Palace is at 148 Middle Neck Rd., Great Neck, 516-487-8460.
