Beach Local Cafe is up and running on the Long Beach Boardwalk. Owner Sean Sullivan, a former partner at the town’s Swingbellys BBQ, said his menu was inspired by local foods he ate on surfing trips to far-flung locales.

Breakfast ushers in pain perdu ($7) with fruit and maple syrup or the San Diego-inspired burrito Escondido ($8), stuffed with scrambled eggs, peppers, cheese and chorizo wrapped in a flour tortilla ($8). For snacks, “munchies” consist of variations on chips and dip with pico de gallo, mango or pineapple salsa as well as lobster, an over-the-top chip topping ($12) — as well as fries. Tacos draw inspiration from around the globe, such as Kailua pork tacos, wasabi tuna and Mexicali chicken, served two per order with a side of red cabbage, chips and pico de gallo ($10 to $15). Sliders range from a classic bacon cheeseburger to Bar Harbor sliders with lobster instead of beef patties ($12 to $16).

Beach Local Cafe is one of several businesses to move into the new comfort stations on the boardwalk, part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency-funded multimillion dollar project built after Superstorm Sandy. Other businesses that have moved to the boardwalk include Gentle Brew Coffee (at National Boulevard), Riptides 11561 (at Edwards Boulevard) and the soon to open Shakes and Shuckers (at Lincoln Boulevard).

Beach Local Cafe (beachlocalcafe.com) is located on the Long Beach Boardwalk at Grand Boulevard. and it’s open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through the end of September.
