Blackstone Steakhouse in Melville is to host a dessert-and-wine tasting on June 25.
The three-star restaurant, one of Long Island's top steakhouses, has enriched its dessert choices under pastry chef Michael Romano. The ambitious tasting will feature six of them, each paired with wine. The cost is $65. Regular menu items are additional. The event starts at 7:30 p.m.
Romano's selections include a strawberry frappe with passion fruit "caviar," matched with Vietti Moscato d'Asti; olive-oil sorbet with candied cherry tomatoes and toasted pine nuts, offered with Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Champagne; and Sicilian pistachio cake with Morello cherry gel, whipped coconut-kaffir lime cremeux, with Caposaldo Prosecco.
Also: fromage blanc semifreddo with poached white peaches, with Chateau Guiraud Sauternes; toasted sesame tres leches with lemongrass-matcha tea sauce anglaise with Far Niente Dolce; and a marbled chocolate "orb" filled with roasted espesso custard, stout beer marshmallow, poached blackberries, hazelnut cake, gelato, and a coriander-banana meringue stick, all of which goes with Fonseca 20 Year Old Port.
