Burgerology to replace gastropub S.T.A.G.S Tap House in Huntington

S.T.A.G.S Tap House is tapped out. The Huntington gastropub closed last week after less than a year on Main Street.

One of the buzziest openings of 2016, S.T.A.G.S was a partnership among Jeffrey States, Joe Forgione and Michael Garbedian (who left after a few months). The menu was the work of Adam Goldgell, a veteran Long Island chef who achieved national prominence when he was runner-up on the first season of Food Network’s “Restaurant Express” with Robert Irvine.

Goldgell, a consultant, left shortly after the restaurant opened and was succeeded by his sous chef, Koji Kakimoto. (Kakimoto left earlier this year and is now executive chef at Honu Kitchen & Cocktails in Huntington.)

Along with chef shifts, there were also management changes. The restaurant closed briefly in November to retool, and reopened with a new team in place; January brought another team.

The space — a pitch-perfect combination of exposed brick, reclaimed wood, Edison light bulbs and a 40-tap bar — won’t be vacant for long. Eddie Galatoulas, owner of Burgerology in Rockville Centre, will be opening a second location here. He’s hoping for a July opening; we’ll keep you posted.
