Chick-fil-A, the chicken-driven chain whose first Long Island store opened in Port Jefferson Station in October, is introducing a new salad the chain hopes “will help customers keep their New Year’s resolutions.”
The Superfood Side — made with raw kale and broccolini — weighs in at 170 calories, 7 grams of fat, 23 grams of carbs and 16 grams of sugar for an 8-ounce portion. (The 5-ounce portion has 140 calories and a proportionally leaner nutritional profile.) The new side will be available nationwide on Jan. 18.
The salad was developed in collaboration with Ford Fry, chef-owner of 11 Atlanta-area restaurants and a three-time James Beard Award nominee. It’s the first time Chick-fil-A has partnered with an outside chef.
In the Superfood Side, the chopped kale and broccolini are tossed in a maple vinaigrette, topped with dried cherries and served with roasted walnuts, almonds and pecans. The 5-ounce portion will sell for $2.59, the 8-ounce for $3.79. Substitute the Superfood Side for a regular side in any combo meal for an extra 94 cents.
