Maize Cantina in Commack continues to evolve. While chef Michael Merida still offers inventive  pupusas and arepas, he's not content to let things rest. Here's a quick update on menu additions and happenings:

Tapas menu: A roster of small plates ($6 for a crock of meatballs to $12 for lamb chops) to mix, match and share. From 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, get a combo of any three for $22.95.
Quesadilla Tuesdays: A choice of quesadilla and a glass of wine or beer goes for $10.
Cinco de Mayo fiesta: Wednesday, May 5, starting at 5 p.m., you'll find an oyster bar with toppings such as gazpacho ice and pickled cucumber relish. Also part of the celebration:  Coronas, frozen tequila ices, special drinks and giveaways.

Maize Cantina is at 1141 Jericho Tpke., Commack, 631-864-2777
