Da Gigi Trattoria & Bar, a restaurant featuring regional Italian specialties, is slated to open on June 26 in Lynbrook.
Chef-owner Pierluigi Sacchetti will be joined by Tuscan chef Nicola Schioppo to launch the restaurant. Schioppo has been chef at Osteria Cipolla Rossa in Florence, Italy. Freddy Sammarone, owner of the now-closed Ciao Bella of Hewlett, will manage the front of the house.
Diners should expect courses such as salumi and cheeses; grilled wild-caught calamari and shrimp; tuna carpaccio with mango and avocado; a salad of baby arugula with fava beans, crisp zucchini flowers, and truffled pecorino cheese; and the house version of eggplant alla Parmigiana.
Pastas will take in pappardelle with Tuscan meat sauce; bucatini with spicy Calabrese sausage, tomato sauce and caciocavallo cheese; ravioli filled with potato and pancetta in a braised beef cheek sauce; and saffron gnocchi with crabmeat and shrimp.
Among the main dishes will be baked branzino with olives. cherry tomatoes, potatoes and Manila clams; pan-seared red Sicilian shrimp on white beans with arugula and pistachios; veal Milanese; and a pheasant ragu.
The price range: $9 to $12 for appetizers and salads, $11 to $15 for pastas, $17 to $19 for main courses.
Da Gigi is part of P Twelve Catering & Special Events. Open Monday to Saturday, 5 to 10 p.m. If a catered event is scheduled for a Saturday night, Da Gigi may be closed. Call in advance. Closed Sunday.
