Jersey Mike’s Subs is slated to open its 11th eatery on Long Island in Carle Place on March 21.
The fast-casual chain has been expanding rapidly in Nassau and Suffolk. In February, branches opened in Massapequa Park and Selden.
As it has done with all openings, Jersey Mike’s Subs plans to raise funds for local groups.
Franchise owner Jim Denburg is overseeing the fundraiser, circulating 7,500 coupons in the community, and offering a free, regular sub sandwich for a $2 minimum contribution.
Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin food bank; and Carle Place Educational Foundation, which seeks to foster partnerships among neighborhood schools and business, are to benefit from the fundraiser, which goes from March 21 to March 25
There are more than 1,500 Jersey Mike’s Subs either open or under development. The company started in 1956. Since 2010, it has raised $28 million for local charities.
Sandwiches typically are in the $6.25 to $8.25 range, and are made with in-house baked bread and on-site sliced meats and cheese. “The juice,” with olive oil and red wine vinegar, dresses a lot of them.
The Carle Place establishment will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. It’s at 202 Glen Cove Rd.; 516-865-1200, jerseymikes.com
