Diners who’ve had their periscopes up for the next Jersey Mike’s Subs are slated to spot one in Massapequa Park on Feb. 14.
The Valentine’s Day opening for sub lovers is expected to be followed two weeks later by the unveiling of a Jersey Mike’s in Selden.
Jersey Mike’s Subs specializes in meats and cheeses sliced on the spot and served on in-house baked bread. Many of the sandwiches are finished with what’s termed “the juice,” an olive oil and red wine vinegar dressing.
The sandwiches generally are in the $6.25 to $8.25 range.
Openings in Massapequa Park and Selden would bring the Long Island total to 10. Hoyt Jones, president of Jersey Mike’s, said he expected growth to continue in Nassau and Suffolk through the year for the fast-casual franchises.
The Massapequa Park franchise, owned by Jeff and Laura Maier, will celebrate its opening with a free sub fundraiser from Feb. 14 to 18.
Jersey Mike’s will circulate 7,500 coupons in the community that will offer the free sandwiches for a $2 contribution to the Massapequa Council of PTAs.
The Massapequa Park branch is at 5050 Sunrise Hwy., 516-590-0791. Its hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
In Selden, Jersey Mike’s Subs is scheduled to open at 280A Middle Country Rd., 631-538-1983, on Feb. 21.
There are more than 1,500 Jersey Mike’s Subs sites open or under consideration across the country. Jersey Mike’s Subs was established in 1956.
