The Snapper Inn hosts the 11th annual Long Island Chowder Contest on Feb. 6, an event in cooperation with The Nature Conservancy with donations to benefit the group's work in Great South Bay. The suggested donation is $10. No admission charge. To be judged: Manhattan and New England-style clam chowders as well as seafood bisques from several Long Island restaurants.
Among the participating restaurants are H2O Seafood Grill in Smithtown, Porters on the Lane in Bellport, Riverbay in Williston Park, The Jolly Fisherman in Roslyn, the Irish Coffee Pub in Islip and Snapper Inn from Oakdale.
