“Spinning Plates,” a film about how some restaurants do more than simply feed people, will be screened on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington. The movie, directed by Joseph Levy, profiles three American dining spots, each with its own story. One of those restaurants is Alinea, whose chef, Grant Achatz, is an American pioneer of molecular gastronomy. Also profiled: Breitbach's Country Dining in Balltown, Iowa and La Cocina de Gabby in Tucson, Arizona.
After the movie, Levy will speak and answer questions — via Skype. A wine and cheese reception will follow. Tickets are $15 for nonmembers, $10 for members. You can buy them at the Cinema Arts Centre or online at brownpapertickets.com.
Cinema Arts Centre is at 423 Park Ave., Huntington, 631-423-7611, cinemaartscentre.com.
