Montauk gives you a great sunrise and, now, a cup of coffee to go with it.

Perking up the most decaffeinated Hamptonians is coffee 'tauk, a sleek and sharp addition to The End of the Island. The coffee is robust and there's superior, lush gelato from Il Laboratorio del Gelato, too. Tea drinkers also will be happy here. It's a fine way to greet the day.

Try "red eye," a fresh-brewed coffee with a shot of espresso just to be sure it's a mission-accomplished moment. The "fisherman's blend" is a basic one to take home by the pound. Rooibos vanilla contends for top tea: rooibos tea blended with Madagascar bourbon vanilla.

And, just in case, you can get an 8-pound bag of ice for $3. Soft drinks, bottled water, some baked goods and all the requisite equipment for brewing also are for sale.

Be certain, however, to dive into the gelati. They're terrific. Delicious vanilla, rich dark chocolate, strawberry and banana headed the weekend offerings. The combo of vanilla and orange sorbet: a deluxe creamsicle.

coffee 'tauk is at 83 S. Elwood Ave., at the corner of South Elwood and South Edison, Montauk; 631-668-7007.
