Waterside restaurant Aria Melanie opens in Bay Shore

This summer ushers in another ambitious waterside restaurant in Bay Shore, this one on Lawrence Lake. Aria Melanie on the Lake is up and running in what used to be The Lake House, which moved in May to a larger space, 135 Maple Ave., with a view of the Great South Bay.

Named for owner Frank Mandato’s granddaughters, the restaurant offers Mediterranean fare from chef Fabrizio Perinelli.

On the menu, you’ll find appetizers such as eggplant caponata crostini, arancini, fritto misto and duck leg confit for $12 to $16; pasta marinara, saffron pappardelle with sausage ragu or seafood risotto from $16 to $22, and mains such as Creole-spiced pork loin or a 22-ounce cowboy rib-eye for $28 to $38.

Aria Melanie is open for dinner Tuesday to Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. Weekend brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
