This Sunday night, chef Doug Gulija of the Plaza Café in Southampton will host vintner Robin Lail, whose family history in the California wine industry dates back to 1879. That's when Lail's great grand-uncle, Finnish sea captain Gustave Niebaum, founded Inglenook.
Lail, who now has her own Napa Valley vineyard, will be on hand to discuss her story and introduce some of her favorite vintages at a four-course dinner, at $150 a person plus tax and gratuity.
Here’s Gulija's menu, complete with pairings:
The Plaza Café signature canapés
Lail Vineyards ‘Blueprint’ Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Napa, CA)
Seared Montauk dayboat scallop
with local corn ravioli, chanterelles, lobster-vanilla froth
Lail Vineyards ‘Georgia’ Sauvignon Blanc 2008 (Napa, CA)
Slow cooked prime rib ‘Spinalis Dorsi’
