When it comes to nightlife on Long Island, the Nutty Irishman sports bar and nightclubs are major players.

With a mid-sized location in Farmingdale (323 Main St., 516-293-9700) and a two-level venue in Bay Shore (60 E. Main St., 631-969-9700),  there are frequent opportunities for dancing, mingling and catching live performances – as well as chances to watch major sporting events and enjoy a menu of burgers and pub grub. However, many nights of the week also feature something that many bar patrons don’t love so much: a cover charge – but if you attend either of the locations on December 16-17, you might be able to avoid that fee until January 2013.

Starting after 9 on those evenings, guests can pay the regular $10 cover to enter, but if entrants are willing to pay $25 instead they will receive a “G.I.F.T” (“Get In Free Tonight”) card that will entitle them to free admission for all of 2012 at both locations.

Of course, in true ‘Nutty fashion, visitors score more for the cover than just the card. At the Farmingdale location the band Drop Dead Sexy will perform on Friday Dec. 16, followed by music by Joe Bachman on Saturday Dec. 17. Meanwhile, over in Bay Shore, Bachman performs a Dec. 16 live show, with a Dec. 17 concert from band Mean Machine.
