With Long Island seeing above-average temperatures lately (including record-setting heat on April 9), it would be understandable if the party people that regularly summer in the Hamptons were thinking of getting started early in 2013, before the standard Memorial Day weekend kickoff. So for anyone who has decided to make that move, an event worth consideration could be the Bay Street Theater's “Spring Fling,” set for April 20 in Sag Harbor.
The affair will be all about the boogie, as such acts as the six-piece band Mamalee Rose & Friends, Moore Johansson (vocalist Kristen Moore and guitarist Dick Johansson) and the nine-piece, New Orleans-inspired HooDoo Loungers (with the ‘Loungers scheduled to record for a future album during the event) will be performing jazz, funk and other sorts of groove-powered music throughout the evening.
Doors open at 8 p.m., with tickets available for $15 in advance by calling 631-725-9500 or online at baystreet.org (or pay $25 at the door upon arrival). In addition, the likely grand opening of Sag Harbor’s newest spot Madison & Main should fall during this same weekend, so anyone who is in town at the time can keep Madison’s 126 Main St. address in mind (just to get a “first-there,” bragging-rights jump that may come in handy for conversational purposes once the summer season is in full swing).
